Captain Spotlight – February 2020
February may be cold, but what unites all our top stories from the past month is warm service, willingness to go the extra mile, and friendliness. Take a look at our top picks from last month and get inspired.
Highest Rated: Indigenous Charters
For Indigenous Charters, February fishing in Fort Myers has been incredible, and the number of excellent reviews proves it. Captain Tyler Carner earned 16 recommendations, and all that in the shortest month of the year.
Customers only had good things to say about their fishing experience. They were impressed by the number of fish they caught and the captain’s efforts to put them on the bite. Capt. Tyler’s trips especially stood out for family groups, with Wade S. mentioning, “My nephew and I spent a great ¾ day with Captain Tyler…He was dogged in his pursuit and we greatly appreciated his efforts. We recommend him and will call on him again.”
It looks like Indigenous Charters can look forward to many return customers, and that’s always a reason to celebrate. Good job, Capt. Tyler!
Celebration on the Water
Here’s a beautiful story about creating lasting bonds while fishing. Captain Omar Cotter of Luck O’ The Irish Fishing Guide Service recently wrote a report about a unique half day trip that was a birthday gift from a mom to her son and his friends.
As the trip started, it turned out that there’s another cause for celebration. The kids were also high school seniors and this was their way of marking their upcoming graduation. Gus and a couple of his closest friends hit the waters of Grapevine Lake and spent several hours enjoying themselves. Even though the fishing conditions weren’t ideal, the atmosphere on the boat was incredible.
Everybody had a blast reeling in some White Bass, and according to Capt. Omar, “It was a great time of laughter and making memories for four great friends.”
This sounds like an adventure these guys will remember for a long time, and the whole experience was even better thanks to the great effort of Capt. Omar.
Attention to Detail Makes the (Fishing) World Go Round
It’s no secret that Mexico is the mecca of fishing, and for Ashley and her family, exploring the local waters was even more special thanks to Tulúm Sport Fishing. In her review, Ashley wrote just how amazed she was with Captain Roger’s willingness to tailor the excursion to her family’s needs.
Ashley mentioned that the crew was “most personable, and showed a real passion for teaching [her] son, and nephew how to fish.” And not only did the little ones enjoy themselves, but so did the grown-ups, who caught a lot of fish and had a wonderful time on the boat.
According to Ashley’s five-star review, the captain went the extra mile to ensure his customers had a seamless experience from the start. Roger was always at their disposal and it made all the difference to everyone fishing with him.
Capt. Roger and his crew’s attention to detail helped turn this family trip into an adventure to remember. We hope there are many more trips like this to come!
Come to Alaska, We Have Salmon!
The Alaska fishing scene needs no introduction, but Captain Scott’s report about an incredible day of Salmon fishing still wowed us from the photos alone. Even though the report was recent, it was remembering a trip with Reel Alaska Fishing Charters in the summer of 2019. The result? Happy faces and a lot of impressively-sized fish.
Capt. Scott pointed out that the family on board “couldn’t stop smiling the entire time,” because the action was non-stop. Judging by the photos, that’s hardly a surprise, seeing that they caught “giant King Salmon and even a 100 lb Halibut.”
When they weren’t fighting their catch (which wasn’t for much of the time), the family also caught glimpses of whales!
Thanks for all the great work, Capt. Scott. Let the good times keep rolling!
Did someone say…200 fish?
If you thought that winter fishing was slow, enter Locked N Loaded to open new horizons! Anthony, who left a review of his recent fishing excursion with this charter, was equally impressed by the incredible amounts of fish they caught and how friendly Captain Adam Wojciechowski was.
“We must’ve caught over 200 fish, seriously [–] unlimited Peacock Bass, Largemouth, Clown Knife Fish, and a few other species.” Catching fish in triple digits is always an impressive achievement, and it seems that Capt. Adam went above and beyond to make it happen. His knowledge of the area made all the action possible and allowed his customers to get a taste of Florida’s excellent winter fishing.
Anthony managed to sum up the atmosphere on the boat in a few choice words: “Honestly [I] felt like I was fishing with someone I have known for years.” This fantastic review just goes to show that when you’re running charters, the ability to make your customers feel welcome is just as important as catching good fish. The combo of the two is a dream come true for every angler, and that’s exactly what Capt. Adam delivered. Great job!
